the form of function
This installation was an effort to utilize a reproduction in a generative and thought provoking way. The document is a performance of an original ballet and the installation is a projection of the performance on a three dimensional screen calling attention to the “form” of what we are looking at. The effect complimented many of Schlemmer's centered and spherical compositions in the ballet. Oskar Schlemmer was head of the Sculpture and Dance Departments at the Bauhaus School and his work had a unique and interdisciplinary approach to form and how it is viewed.
